Winter Wellness: Pt. 4

Find Joy

With the last post in our Winter Wellness series, I want to talk about keeping it simple, filling your own cup first and finding joy in the small things.⁣

Often we are so worried about the people around us, that we don't slow down and recognize our own feelings/emotions. Just like on an airplane when we're taught you have to put on your own oxygen mask before you can help others - we have to be mentally prepared with our own cup filled before we can serve others. ⁣

The simple act of laughing decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection fighting antibodies. It also triggers the release of endorphins, our bodies natural feel-good chemicals. Take pictures, set goals, read a book, do some yoga, go on a walk, call a friend... There are so many ways that we can seek enjoyment and prepare ourselves to be mentally strong this winter season. ⁣

As we continue to make a conscious effort to slow down, we don't have to be passive in the moment, we can soak up each minute and make them count. Going from moment to moment and event to event this Holiday season, make a conscious effort to be really be with the people around you. Put your phone away and be present.

If you are struggling to find this connection in the moment, take a moment to self diffuse Balance or Siberian Fir - put a drop in the palm of your hand, cup your hands together over your nose and mouth and take a few deep breaths. Both Balance and Siberian Fir are grounding oils, helping to relax and root you.

For extra support diffuse or roll on to pulse points any of the oils that call to you from doTERRA's emotional support range. My personal favorites are Cheer, Motivate and Passion. ⁣
