Essential Oils FAQ
What are Essential OIls
Essential oils are the aromatic compounds extracted from plants through a distillation process in which the oil provides an all natural health option to benefit our bodies.
How do oils work
Oils work synergistically with the body because they are carbon based, as is the human body - this allows them to work efficiently. They are able to interact with cells quickly, supporting needed change, homeostasis and comfort within the needed systems of our bodies.
This means when we diffuse oils, digest oils or use the oils topically, we are getting tangible, measured results. Affecting every cell in our body in 20 min is huge!
How Can you use essential oils
Aromatically
INHALING: place 1-2 drops of oil in your hands and rub together, cup your hands over your nose and mouth and inhale through your nose. One of our favorite tips is to take an extra minute and inhale the extra oils from the palms of your hands after any topical oil use. Or you can breathe deeply straight out of the bottle to make it even easier on yourself!
DIFFUSING: this is an excellent method for purifying the air, boosting your mood, and creating an overall healthy atmosphere in your home, car, desk at work- anywhere!
Simply add a few drops of an essential oil(s) of choice to a diffuser in order to gain benefits of aromatic use.
Topically
Place 1-2 drops of desired oil into your hands and apply to the targeted area. When beginning topical use, dilute every oil with fractionated coconut oil and start by applying to the bottom of your feet. Over time if there are no sensitivities than you may move to applying the essential oil neat, although applying with FCO is always recommended. Some of our favorite places to apply our oils topically are the bottoms of the feet, the inside of the wrists, and along the base of the neck & spine.
Internally
A good tip to remember regarding taking oils internally, is to always look for the Supplement Facts on the label. You want to make sure the oil is 100% pure and safe for ingestion. There are many opinions on ingesting essential oils and it is important that you do your own research and use this method as you see fit in your life.
The methods we suggest for ingesting essential oils include placing a drop of oil under your tongue for immediate absorption; placing oil in a glass of water; or filling an empty veggie capsule (remember to take these quickly as the capsule will disintegrate with time). When drinking oils in liquid, be sure the the container you’re drinking from is either glass, aluminum or ceramic as certain oils will deteriorate plastic.
