HS: Tools

Wow, I am so blown away with how well my last 2 homeschooling posts have been received!

With so many people decided to dive into homeschooling this year or distance learning or a combination of both, we’re all grappling to figure out what we “need” and what resources will help make this transition easier. Keeping in mind we’re only about a month into our school year ourselves, below I have compiled a list of items, links and resources that have been helpful to us thus far.

Curriculum + Resources:
First and foremost, your local library. There is no need to be shelling out money for books you don’t need. - - Our local library also offers a certain amount of free copies & printing a month.

For those curriculum books and tools you do want to purchase, 2 great places to look for great deals have been:
- Bookoutlet.ca (CDN) or Bookoutlet.com (USA)
- Costco

Basic Supplies
We have kept it pretty simple and only purchased what we need right now.
- Pencils
- Composition Books
- Interlined Notebooks
- Binders
- Headphones
- Blue Light Blocking Glasses

Helpful Items:
Latch Bins - we have one for each daughter to store their curriculum books, pencils, headphones, etc in
Homeschool Planner - I am a planner person through and through and this one has been incredibly helpful thus far
Electric Pencil Sharpener - after spending an hour hand sharpening pencil crayons I quickly realized this is a must
Laminator - not at all a necessity but I found a great deal one this one. It has been great for worksheets we want to reuse over and over.

All of the above, along with the eclectic mix of curriculum we have chosen for this year has thus far helped make the transition to homeschooling relatively smooth.
